Suntex Marinas expands in California
Kinship Marina in Ventura, California
US-based marina owner and operator Suntex Marina Investors, in partnership with Centerbridge Partners, has acquired Kinship Marina in Ventura, California. The purchase marks the company’s latest expansion along the US west coast.
The marina is located close to Ventura’s historic downtown and the Channel Islands National Park, offering on-water berths and dry stacking.

Michael Warntjes, senior vice president of operations for Suntex Marinas, says: “We are incredibly excited to establish a presence in Ventura Harbor and to invest in elevating Kinship Marina into a true best-in-class coastal destination.
“The harbour’s unique character and strategic location create a strong foundation for us to enhance the asset through thoughtful redevelopment and deliver an exceptional experience for both recreational and commercial vessel customers.”
This strategic move follows Suntex’s acquisition of Vintage Marina and Channel Islands Harbour Marina in Oxnard in 2025.
Kinship Marina’s on-site amenities include a full-service boatyard Derecktor Ventura, which offers expertise in marine repair, refits, paint, metal work and marine mechanics. There is also a waterside restaurant, Ventura Sportfishing charter operation, and Mavcco Market Fuel and Bait, a family owned fuel dock and full-service waterfront market.
Tom Derecktor, partner for Kinship Marina and Derecktor Ventura Boatyard, says: “Kinship Marina has long been a special part of the Ventura boating community, and we are excited to see it jump to the highest level with Suntex. Their commitment to exceptional customer experiences, operational excellence and first-class facilities will build upon the strong foundation established at the marina. We are confident this transition will enhance the property, create lasting value for boaters and guests, and preserve the unique character that makes Kinship Marina such a remarkable destination.”
It has been a busy year for Suntex, which announced its merger with Windward Marina Group in Florida in March 2026, taking Suntex’s total marina properties past 100, including 34 locations across Florida.
In 2025, the US-based marina owner and operator also acquired multiple properties across the US, including marina properties in Key West, Dallas, Texas and continued expanding in California.
