Teji-Cowie anniversary marks first year of yacht deals

Specialist superyacht law firm Teji-Cowie is marking its first anniversary in September 2026 after advising on matters representing approximately €1.5bn in yacht value and more than 25,000 GT of vessel tonnage during its first year.

The firm was launched in September 2025 and has offices in London and Hong Kong. During its first year, it has worked with yacht owners, family offices and industry professionals. Its model includes a technology-led approach to delivering legal work, senior team members on every matter and an end to hourly rates.

“We set out to build the firm we would have wanted to instruct – quick to respond, clear on cost, and focused on getting to signing,” says Alex Teji, founding partner. “The most satisfying part of year one hasn’t been the numbers. It’s the clients and referring intermediaries who have come back to us a second and a third time.”

Teji-Cowie has also recruited across its London and Hong Kong offices during its first year. Further appointments are expected in the coming months as the firm continues to build capacity in both locations.

“Our clients and their yachts move between Europe and Asia constantly, so having real strength in both London and Hong Kong isn’t a nice-to-have; it’s the job,” added Antony Cowie, founding partner. “We are hiring in both offices, and we’re not finished yet. We’re building a firm for the people who work here, not for the people who founded it. Get that right, and the rest follows.”

The firm attended the Singapore Yachting Festival and Palma International Boat Show during its first year. It also attended the recent Cannes Yachting Festival and is currently at the Monaco Yacht Show, where it plans to mark its anniversary with clients and friends of the firm.

Teji-Cowie says it will continue to advise owners and their advisers across the full lifecycle of superyacht ownership. Its areas of work include new build and refit, sale and purchase, finance and registration, charter, crew and dispute resolution.
