The Italian Sea Group (TISG) has announced the death of the firm’s vice president Giuseppe Taranto, due to an illness which lasted less than a year.

TISG, a luxury boating conglomerate based in Marina di Carrara, Italy, says Taranto ‘fought with immense courage and dignity [against] this tremendous disease that brought him away from his beloved ones.’

In a statement, the company’s CEO, Giovanni Costantino, expressed his heartfelt condolences to all the people who had the opportunity to know him.

“None of us were prepared to face such a great heartache,” says Costantino. “Giuseppe, an elegant man, a trusted counsellor and a longtime friend, left us prematurely. I am deeply grieved remembering the human and professional path that saw us all standing closely together during the last 30 years, a relationship that goes far back in time, a relationship of true brotherhood, and mutual and deep professional esteem which allowed us to face so many challenges together.

“The best way to honour his memory is to remember and treasure every day those values of humanity, responsibility and dedication of which he was the most convinced supporter.”

Taranto leaves behind his wife Lucia, and two children, Ludovica and Valentino.

Giuseppe Taranto joined Tecnomar (a TISG brand) as general manager in 2009, before being appointed vice chairman on the board of directors in 2016.

In a statement, TISG says the board will convene ‘in the near future’ to discuss its next decisions.
