Torqeedo CEO steps down
Torqeedo, a manufacturer of electric and hybrid drives for the marine market, has confirmed that Fabian Bez stepped down as CEO on 1 January 2025.
In a statement, Torqeedo says Bez — who held the position of CEO since 2022 — departs via mutual agreement and will now ‘strive for new endeavours.’
Heiko Vietmeier, who has been the company’s CFO since November 2022, assumes the role of CEO in addition to his current responsibilities. With Bez’s departure, the board has been downsized from three to two members: Heiko Vietmeier and Takayuki Sato.
“We would like to express our sincere thanks to our colleague Fabian Bez for his dedication,” says Vietmeier. “With his support, Torqeedo has made decisive progress. We wish him all the best for his future professional and personal endeavours.”
Torqeedo was acquired by Yamaha Motor in April 2024. Torqeedo has over 250 patents for electric motors, propellers, and electrical systems, series production facilities and broad research resources, which the company says it intends to use to develop boat motors together with Yamaha Motor.
