UK timber company selected by TMT Marine

Timber panels in factory

Bristol-based timber importer and machining specialist, Robbins Timber has been appointed as the sole UK and Ireland distributor for TMT Marine, a sustainably sourced timber product.

Robbins will supply the product in any quantity, rough sawn or machined to decking or other profiles, in a wide range of lengths and widths.

Robbins recently received its first consignment of TMT Marine, which is designed to be a sustainable alternative to Burmese (Myanmar) teak.

Ideal for many marine applications, including solid timber yacht decking and margin boards, to general marine joinery, it offers a very viable alternative to traditional teak sourced from Myanmar, which can no longer be imported into the UK.

TMT Marine is a solid timber product aimed specifically at the marine market. American Maple is selected and cut at source to provide a straight, quarter sawn grain. It is then kiln dried, before undergoing a thermal modification process. The result is a rich brown, quarter sawn timber with a Class 1 durability rating, the company says.

Robbins Timber will be at the Southampton International Boat Show 2022, stand J404.
