Dutch equipment distributor and manufacturer Vetus has announced the latest developments and updates on the ambitious build of Delos 2.0, the custom-designed aluminium catamaran by YouTube duo Brian and Karin Trautman.

Set to launch in 2026, Delos 2.0 is being built with sustainability at the core. The catamaran will run on a Nanni hybrid electric propulsion system and a host of Vetus-supplied components, including propeller shafts, seawater strainers, exhaust systems, and soundproofing features. The Vetus team in Australia has been integral to the build, providing technical support and installation guidance.

Brian Trautman comments on the partnership with Vetus: “Their expertise and guidance have been instrumental as we navigate our vessel fit-out. No matter the challenge, from exhaust systems to toilets, blackwater tanks, and everything in between, they’ve consistently provided smart, high-quality solutions tailored to our needs. The product quality has been exceptional, and we couldn’t be happier with both the support and results.”

Beyond Vetus’ technical contributions, the Trautmans are designing the catamaran with multiple environmentally conscious features, such as a large solar array, rainwater collection system, and low-maintenance systems throughout.

Significant progress has been made as the project enters its second year. The team has completed much of the frame and hull work, all designed for long-term exploration and to endure the most challenging ocean conditions—a top priority for the Trautmans, given their extensive global adventures aboard the original SV Delos, racking up 85,000 nautical miles, across 50 countries.

Sander Gesink, Vetus marketing director, adds:  “We have really enjoyed watching the progress of Delos 2.0, with the team bringing to life the ups and downs and, most importantly, the incredible lifestyle that goes with travelling the world by boat. We hope the wider community finds the engaging way they highlight the build, including integrating our systems, useful and empowering. We look forward to watching them take to the water in early 2026.”
