Vision Marine and Armada Pontoons to address lake boating regulations with new electric pontoon
Vision Marine Technologies and Armada Pontoons have unveiled a strategic partnership to address a growing market challenge: boating on North America’s increasingly regulated lakes.
The collaboration targets a specific and expanding niche created by environmental restrictions in states like Georgia, North Carolina, Ohio, and Pennsylvania, which have implemented motor limitations to protect local ecosystems.
The firm highlights the potential market opportunity due to the nearly 480,000 lakes and reservoirs in the US and over 3 million lakes in Canada. Alexandre Mongeon, CEO of Vision Marine, explains: “This pontoon represents a new opportunity for families and boaters who’ve long sought a turn-key, regulation-friendly solution without compromising on quality or ease of use.
“Our collaboration with Armada Pontoons has allowed us to create something truly special- an electric pontoon boat that’s easy to own, operate, and love.”
Mathieu Gardner, president of Armada Pontoons, a Quebec-based company, comments: “This partnership reflects our shared dedication to delivering practical and innovative boating solutions.”
The electric pontoon aims to capitalise on the growing environmental consciousness and regulatory trends. With increasing federal and state incentives for electric transportation, the firm asserts that the solution offers a ‘compelling option.’
Vision Marine plans to showcase the pontoon at boat shows across North America in 2025, including events in Florida, California, Montreal, and Toronto.
The news comes after Vision Marine and Massimo Marine collaborated to develop a 30ft electric pontoon boat.
