WATCH: 60ft yacht rescued after taking on water in Poole Harbour

Poole RNLI launched to assist a 60ft yacht with three adults and a child on board when it was making its way inbound to Poole and started to take on water.

Poole lifeboat arrived on the scene with two crew transferring on to the yacht and using a salvage pump to try to stem the flow of water ingress.

The salvage pump, alongside the crew bailing, helped to keep the ingress under control. As the light was fading, the lifeboats escorted the vessel back through the harbour to Poole Quay Boat Haven.

On arrival at Poole Quay Boat Haven, the marina staff attached their pump and the lifeboat was stood down. Poole Lifeboat volunteer Steve Porter, this ‘shout’ will be memorable as it was his first as an Atlantic helm having only graduated 24 hours beforehand.
