Yacht inspired by black hole has glass elevator and giant ‘eye’
Even as wacky superyacht concepts go, the latest design from Indian yacht design studio Bhushan Powar Design stands out as unusual.
The 110-metre Zion features a giant glass dome that looks like a looming eye, or a “black hole”, and offers guests an uninterrupted 180-degree view.
“Our concept attracts eyes with its modern elegance and surprises the owner with the mysteries of the deep,” the firm says, adding that the design takes inspiration from black holes — “the most mysterious yet beautiful phenomenon of the universe, which attracts energy.”
The impressive viewing opportunities don’t end there. The yacht also offers a glass-bottom infinity swimming pool via a hanging bridge on the main deck, as well as a glass elevator that moves between all the decks. The owner’s suite, located on the main deck, has electrically operated sky lounge balconies on either side.
The lower deck has a large tender garage that allows for easy and safe deployment of tenders, jet skis and other water toys. At the aft of the lower deck is a beach club with a dedicated gym and an open garden space. The beach club converts into an expandable sunbathing space through foldout bulwark terraces.
On the upper deck is a flybridge where passengers can lounge and enjoy the views “in all weather conditions”, and a 12m helipad that is accessible via the glass elevator.
The outlandish yacht, which has an aluminium structure and an estimated price tag of between US$500 and $600 million, can accommodate 20 guests in 10 luxury staterooms, and a master suite dedicated on the main deck. In addition to 20 guests, she accommodates over 20 crew members.
Goa-based Bhushan Powar Design launched in 2019 and is described as the “first luxury yacht design studio in India.”
