WATCH: Seven yachts run aground in Corsica

A Princess motoryacht named Vista Me was one of at least seven vessels grounded in Corsica on the weekend following torrential rain and strong winds, according to local reports.

The video shows Vista Me aground on Calvi beach in Corsica and other yachts under assistance. It is understood six other boats, in addition to Vista Me, run aground and have suffered damage including damaged propellers and rudders and torn sails.

According to salvage_and_wreck, the adverse weather hit Corsica overnight from 12-13 August with gusts of wind of more than 43 knots in the Balagne region in the north of Corsica.

SNSM Calvi Balagne assisted the boats. After 12 hours of intervention, all yachts excluding Vista Me were refloated over the weekend. It is understood that Vista Me will require an inspection to assess the risk of further damage before she can be safely removed from the beach.
