New technical services manager at Yamaha

The Yamaha US Marine Business Unit has named Robert Orr as the technical services manager of the marine service operations division.

In his new role, Orr is responsible for enhancing customer satisfaction through product improvement. Orr and his team provide technical and product information support by monitoring the market for outboards, WaveRunners and boats and reporting feedback to the various Yamaha factories.

“Robert has more than 23 years of experience and unique market analytical knowledge,” says Jeremy Waki, marine service operations division manager. “His insight and the information gathered by his team helps to provide the insight Yamaha needs to enhance our product offerings and ultimately deliver greater customer satisfaction.”

The Yamaha US Marine Business Unit, based in Kennesaw, Georgia, markets and sells marine outboard motors ranging in size from 2.5 to 450 horsepower. It also markets and sells fibreglass, jet-drive sport boats ranging from 19 to 27 feet, and personal watercraft.

Orr joined Yamaha in 2000 as a regional technical advisor for all motorsports product lines
with a focus on snowmobiles. Orr now reports directly to Jeremy Waki, marine service operations division manager.

Earlier this month (August 2023), Yamaha named Grant Suzuki as its chief of technology, advanced marine systems. Under Suzuki’s leadership, Yamaha says it will develop future solutions to improve boater experiences by ‘advancing the capability and performance of core product lines’.
