Yamaha unveils new rigging system

Yamaha Motor Europe has unveiled its new Helm Master EX control rigging system, said to make boat operations both easy and enjoyable with a sophisticated array of features. This marks 60 years since founder of Yamaha Motors, Genichi Kawakami, delved into the marine world with its first outboard engine in 1960, the P-7.

The company says that the focus is on professionals, enthusiasts and casual users. Working with single and multiple Yamaha outboard engines, the Helm Master EX includes a 6X9 Driver-by-Wire (DBW), an easy-to-use CL5 colour touchscreen display, sophisticated autopilot features, Digital Electric Steering and a joystick for complete control.

The Helm Master EX Joystick is said to offer great manoeuvrability, particularly in confined spaces such as the marina, and also allows for fine tuning of the autopilot function and small positioning adjustments within SetPoint. The software included is brand new, while the single-function buttons makes operating easy for all experience levels.

While out on the water, Yamaha’s new Autopilot feature allows for following a set course, or helps guide users in the right direction.

Among other features, electric actuators are quiet, quick and smooth, while improving efficiency by utilising less battery power than might be found in conventional hydraulic power steering systems. It also means no pumps, hoses or wiring.
