Yanmar Holdings splits Power Technology business

Yanmar Holdings has announced a corporate reorganisation, in which Yanmar Power Technology will be divided into two companies.
Yanmar Power Technology will focus on industrial engines, while Yanmar Power Solutions will cover marine and industrial engines, including medium- and high-speed models, and standby power systems.
The changes take effect on 1 October 2025. Masaru Hirose has been appointed president of Yanmar Power Solutions, and Tomohisa Tao will remain president of Yanmar Power Technology.
The Japanese engine and industrial equipment giant says the restructuring is designed to move the new companies more closely in line with decarbonisation goals and market requirements, and allow for faster decision-making.
Tomohisa Tao, president of Yanmar Power Technology, says: “I am committed to driving innovation and sustainability in our industrial power products, ensuring that Yanmar continues to lead in providing solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers.”
Masaru Hirose, president of Yanmar Power Solutions, says: “In the field of marine and industrial engines for ships, power generation and standby applications, Yanmar Power Solutions is committed to meeting environmental regulations by accelerating decarbonisation efforts and improving thermal efficiency, with the aim of driving global growth and achieving its strategic objectives.”
Tao has held a number of senior roles, including divisional manager of the development planning division and planning division within the industrial power products business. He became an executive officer at Yanmar Holdings in 2020 and took on the role of president and representative director of Yanmar Power Technology the same year. He also serves as executive officer and general manager of the industrial power products business and has been chairman of the Japan Land Engine Manufacturers Association since 2024.

Hirose joined Yanmar Diesel Corporation in 1987 and has worked in positions including executive officer and head of development for the large power products business. In 2017, he was promoted to executive officer and head of the large power products business, and since 2020 he has served as director and head of that division at Yanmar Power Technology. He is currently vice chairman of the Japan Ship Machinery and Equipment Association and chairman of the Japan Ship-Machinery Quality Control Association.
Yanmar Power Technology will continue to specialise in industrial power products, while Yanmar Power Solutions will focus on marine and industrial engines for ships, power generation and standby applications. In a statement, the company says that the new structure will enable more agile management and facilitate strategic operations tailored to each business.
Yanmar Holdings was established in Osaka in 1912, and lays claim to have produced the world’s first compact diesel engine in 1933. Today, the group operates across seven domains, including engines, agricultural machinery, construction equipment, energy systems, marine, and machine tools and components.
