Yanmar to debut next-gen hybrid system at Metstrade 2026
The YF12e Hybrid combines diesel and electric propulsion in one system
Yanmar Marine International (YMI) will introduce its YF12e Hybrid propulsion system at Metstrade 2026, taking place from 17–19 November at RAI Amsterdam in the Netherlands.
Designed for inland waterway vessels and 40–50ft displacement boats, the system combines diesel and electric propulsion. Boats can run with zero emissions and near-silent operation in EV mode, while the propulsion engine also generates electricity for use on board when cruising.
The YF12e Hybrid joins Yanmar’s existing propulsion range, which includes HVO-compatible engines and the DAME-winning SDe electric saildrive.
Floris Lettinga, director of sales and marketing at Yanmar Marine International, comments: “We are excited to unveil the YF12e Hybrid system at Metstrade, which is another way Yanmar provides customers with the Power of Choice.
“With this hybrid system, we’ve taken the complexity out of combining different systems and engineered it into one Yanmar solution. It’s designed to make the benefits of hybrid propulsion more accessible and easier to use.”
Visitors can see the YF12e Hybrid in Hall 1, stand 343 (01.343). Yanmar will release full technical specifications at the show, with further information to follow the launch.
The news comes the same week that Vetus – part of the Yanmar Marine Recreational Business Unit – introduced the M2HSET hybrid propulsion system for its M-Line two-cylinder diesel engines
