28m Sunseeker Black Diamond destroyed in fire

The 28m Sunseeker Black Diamond has been destroyed in a fire at the IMS Shipyard in Saint-Mandrier, France.

According to local reports, a fire broke out in the early hours of 2 September. varmatin.com reported that an unexplained explosion occurred onboard around 1am and 40 firefighters battled the blaze. The fire engulfed the luxury yacht.

The emergency services worked through the night to bring the fire under control and avoid it spreading to other vessels. The 28m Sunseeker is now partially submerged at the IMS Shipyard, which is located in Sain-Mandrier in southern France.

The cause of the fire is still unknown and an investigation into the incident has been launched. No one was onboard the yacht when the fire occurred.

Last month, the new ISA superyacht Aria SF was engulfed by fire while cruising off the coast of Formentera.
