Aqua superPower expands to the US and Scandinavia

Global marine fast-charge network Aqua superPower has expanded into two of the world’s largest boating markets, the US and Scandinavia.

In the US, the new Aqua high-power DC charger at Tahoe City Marina is the first of a smart network of chargers to be rolled out along the shores of popular boating destination, Lake Tahoe.

“As members of the Clean Marina Program, Tahoe City Marina is proud to be the first boating destination in the US to provide marine fast charging with the Aqua supercharger,” says Jim Phelan, general manager of Tahoe City Marina. “This firmly puts Tahoe City Marina and Lake Tahoe on the map as a viable location for electric boat owners and boat makers to bring their craft.

“The transition to e-marine mobility will accelerate as a result of the enhanced convenience afforded by the expansion of plug & go charging infrastructure. Partnering with Aqua superPower is part of our wider environmental efforts and to enable us to service the growing number of electric boat users. We look forward to welcoming clean electric boating to Tahoe City Marina and the Lake.”

Swedish Lyckans Slip Marina, located in the former fishing village of Fiskebäckskil, is making Aqua superPower’s electric boat fast charging available to its customer. This move comes after Lyckans Slip welcomed Brandt Båt to the marina, a company which resells and services a number of boating brands, including Swedish-built X Shore and Strana electric boats.

Conny Holmberg, marina director of Lyckans Slip Marina, comments: “We have always aimed to be at the forefront of environmental work, and the decision to be the first in Sweden to join the Aqua superPower network is one part of this. I want Lyckans Slip to be well ahead of the expected surge in clean electric boating. With over 70 electric boat builders currently in operation, there is a growing and fast-evolving range of models for boat lovers to explore. Our new Aqua 75 DC rapid charger will allow them to charge and regain their autonomy in as little as 20 – 90mins.”

Aqua superPower says it enables marinas and waterside locations to benefit from the shift to electric boating without any upfront cost. The Aqua superPower network is accessible to boat users via the Aqua secure app or RFID card, allowing users to view a map showing charger options, offering navigational aids, and managing charging sessions.

“Access to charging that provides a reliable, powerful ‘plug & go’ experience and offers features like charge point visibility, is essential for leisure and commercial boat owners if they are to develop the confidence to transition to zero-emission electric boats,” says Alex Bamberg, CEO of Aqua superPower. “The US and Scandinavia are key strategic markets for Aqua superPower. Tahoe City Marina and Lyckans Slip Marina are prime examples of the locations leading the way in adopting clean electric boating and the charging infrastructure we provide.”

The company continues to roll out its network of marine fast chargers with installations along the Cote d’Azur, the Italian Riviera, Venice, Spain, the UK, Canada, Sweden, and the US.  A further 150 chargers are planned to be added to the network next year, with substantial deployment growth to come thereafter.
