Autonomous navigation continues to move from concept to cockpit, and Europe remains a key market for its adoption. Avikus, HD Hyundai’s autonomous navigation technology subsidiary, has announced a new distribution partnership in Italy aimed at bringing advanced AI-driven navigational systems to a wider base of boat owners and operators.

Avikus, HD Hyundai’s specialised autonomous navigation technology subsidiary, is now in partnership with Saim Marine for distribution of Avikus’ award-winning autonomous and AI navigational systems, including the new NeuBoat Navi with Control.

Expanding Avikus’ European footprint

Under the partnership, Saim Marine will use its distribution networks to supply Avikus products to customers across Italy, further expanding the Avikus footprint in Europe.

“We’re excited to embark on this journey with Avikus,” says Marco Donà of Saim Marine. “We’re proud of the customer network we’ve built across Italy, and Avikus’ autonomous and AI navigational systems are the perfect fit for our portfolio. The European boating market is quickly entering a new generation and Avikus products are the ideal catalyst to enhance the boating experience.”

Saim Marine’s distribution and service network

Saim was founded in 1951. Today it manufactures, imports and distributes high-tech components. The company works alongside shipyards in project development and is also present with direct assistance on the coasts of Italy, France, Slovenia, Croatia and other countries. It includes a service network of more than 100 authorised and constantly updated centres.

“We look forward to working with the team at Saim Marine to bring Avikus’ next-generation navigational systems to expanded markets across Italy,” says Do-Hyeong Lim, CEO of Avikus. “With a customer-forward approach and strong reputation across the European continent, we’re confident in the Saim Marine team to showcase Avikus’ award-winning products. We know that European vessel owners are hungry for ways to make boating safer and more enjoyable, and we’re excited to bring Avikus solutions to them.”

Neuboat Dock and docking assistance technology

Avikus says that NeuBoat Dock and NeuBoat Dock II, takes the stress out of docking by offering increased situational awareness. Laying the groundwork for future automation NeuBoat Dock II gives boaters a bird’s eye view for easy docking, single or multiple camera views, object detection and a docking assist path.

The next evolution of the NeuBoat system is Neuboat Navi with Control, providing real-time information on the location, distance and speed of both stationary and moving objects ahead.

As distribution networks and onboard technology continue to converge, partnerships like this highlight how autonomous features are being positioned as practical tools rather than distant innovations. With Saim Marine’s established presence and Avikus’ growing portfolio of navigation systems, the Italian market is set to play an important role in the next phase of smart boating adoption.
