Avikus and Honda Marine to collaborate on autonomous integration

Avikus, HD Hyundai’s autonomous navigation subsidiary, is to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Honda Marine to integrate its Neuboat Semi-Autonomous System with the Honda Intelligent Shift & Throttle (iST) command and control system.
The signing is scheduled to take place on 7 October 2025 at the International BoatBuilders’ Exhibition and Conference (IBEX) at the Tampa Convention Center.
Honda Marine, a division of Honda Power Sports & Products, has produced four-stroke outboards since 1964. Under the MOU, Avikus will use the Honda iST drive-by-wire protocol to connect its Neuboat Semi-Autonomous System, enabling functions such as collision avoidance, adaptive cruise control and automatic docking. Plans include integration with Honda BF350 iST controllers for OEMs, dealers and end users.
The Avikus Neuboat Navi and Dock 2 situational awareness systems work with the Neuboat Control autonomous system to deliver real-time information and automated adjustments while underway or docking. Avikus says that, using sensors to detect and classify objects and measure distances, the systems support operators in navigation and docking by providing situational awareness and assisting with safe manoeuvring.
Honda Marine’s iST system controls up to four outboard engines and two control stations. The system is compatible with a number of Honda high-power outboard motors, including the BF115, BF150, BF200, BF225, BF250 and BF350.
Do-Hyeong Lim, CEO of Avikus, says: “Honda carries a long-standing recognition and respect across a multitude of industries, including marine … we’re excited to begin working with an industry-leading team of engineers at Honda to bring award-winning autonomous technology and convenience to Honda customers in the marine space.”
