Barrus expands Marine Leisure Division with new Application and Technical Support Engineer

P. Barrus Ltd. welcomes Matt Dayman to the role of Application and Technical Support Engineer for the Marine Leisure Division.

Since he was young, Matt has been out on the water and interested in the marine industry, which was fuelled by his dad’s love of boating and, of course, Mercury engines.

Matt’s career began with an apprenticeship at Sunseeker International before progressing to Warranty Engineer. His experience has since continued at Barrus authorised dealership, RIBs Marine, working on Mercury inboard and outboard engines as a Marine Engineer.

Matt joins the Marine Division at an important and exciting time following the unprecedented success of Mercury’s V6 and V8 platform and the most recent launch of the new Mercury Racing 450R. This new role will be dedicated to boat builders and focus on these new engine platforms in addition to the world-class Mercury Racing Verado 400R which has proved itself in so many applications; from commercial to offshore powerboat racing.

Barrus recognised the importance of a dedicated Application and Technical Support Engineer to ensure that our boat builders receive the best advice on how to get the most out of their engines and Matt will work alongside the sales team in addition to authorised dealers and boat builders to enhance the level of service and support we provide to our network of dealers and their customers.

“I’ve always enjoyed fixing engines and learning new things, so am thrilled to be joining Barrus – the role is exactly what I was looking to do next,” comments Matt. “I’m most looking forward to working on some of the most well-known brands in the industry, particularly following the launch of the new Mercury V6 and V8 platform which has been so well received.”

“Having worked alongside Barrus for 10 years, Matt was a clear first choice for the role,” comments Ben Allen, General Manager for the Marine Leisure Division, E. P. Barrus. “Matt has hit the ground running thanks to his extensive product knowledge, and we’re looking forward to working with him on the exciting application projects we have lined up.”
