Beneteau and Seascape unveil First 36

Three years ago, Beneteau and Seascape joined forces to co-develop the new generation of First. After launching the sport-cruiser part of the range, the first model from the racer-cruiser range – the new First 36 – has been unveiled.

First 36 focuses on comfort and performance, elegance, and utility, says Beneteau, and the racer-cruiser harnesses high-tech construction at a reasonable cost.

An international mix was Involved in its creation including New Zealand’s Pure Design & Engineering, known for TP52s, the Ineos AC75 and IMOCA 60s; France’s Samuel Manuard, the naval architect who designed the 7th generation First and First SE from 14-27ft; Italy’s Lorenzo Argento, designer of the First Yacht 53; and Slovenia’s Gigodesign, the multi Red Dot awarded industrial design studio who gave design research and innovation insights.

The design team was coordinated by Kristian Hajnšek, CTO of Seascape, who worked closely with the team at Beneteau to bring modern construction technologies into the segment of accessible production racer-cruisers.

The First 36 offers planing in medium winds by short-handed or fully crewed teams, while remaining an all round boat.

“It’s going to be much livelier and lighter than most of the boats you can buy. It bridges the gap between sport boats and family cruisers,” says Giovanni Belgrano, Pure Design Engineering.

The official debut of the racer-cruiser will be on 2nd January 2022 at boot Düsseldorf.
