Blue Wake Awards 2026 recognise sustainable yachting initiatives

The Blue Wake Awards 2026 have recognised five companies and projects for their sustainable approaches in the superyacht sector, following the programme launched last year by Monaco Yacht Show and Water Revolution Foundation.

The awards form part of the Blue Wake Programme, which uses an evidence-based framework to assess environmental solutions across the yachting industry.

The programme has validated 60 exhibitors participating in the 2026 Monaco Yacht Show. Participants are assessed across five areas: emission reduction, material circularity, eco-design and innovation, marine ecosystem protection, and yacht services.

An expert jury selected five award winners from the participating exhibitors, alongside a special prize for a yacht and a special mention for a participating design company.

Luxury services & products – bespoke projects

Bespoke Projects was recognised for its GreenCast recycled-monomer (R-MMA) cast acrylic, designed for applications including yacht interior furniture, joinery and specialist finishes.

Nautical supplier – Termodinamica

Termodinamica received the award for its direct-expansion marine HVAC system using inverter heat pump technology.

Builder/refit shipyard – Amico & Co

Genoa-based refit shipyard Amico & Co was recognised for its sustainability infrastructure, including a 1MW photovoltaic installation, shore power across its docks, energy-efficient permanent sheds, on-site wastewater treatment, and an Eco-Island waste recovery system covering 25 categories.

Tenders/water toys – Tykun

Tykun was recognised for its Tykun X and Tykun XII aluminium-hulled tenders. The company has undertaken a cradle-to-grave life cycle assessment of the vessels, with an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) in preparation.

Yacht service/brokerage/charter – Marina Ibiza

Marina Ibiza received the award for its work restoring Posidonia seagrass meadows.

Blue Wake special prize for a yacht

The Blue Wake Special Prize for a Yacht was awarded to Simena by Ares Yacht.

The 62-metre sailing yacht features a parallel-hybrid propulsion system with 220kW electric motors, battery-supported silent operation and the ability to regenerate energy while under sail.

Special mention for VPLP Design

VPLP Design received a special mention as the only design firm participating in this year’s Blue Wake Programme.

Its Wind Voyage project incorporates OceanWings rigid wings. According to the programme, operational data from the technology has recorded fuel savings of up to 1.3 tonnes per day per sail, representing a reported 25 to 50 per cent reduction in fuel consumption.

The 2026 jury included Dr Vienna Eleuteri Held, vice-president of Water Revolution Foundation; Lucy Dunn, content director at Boat International Media; Toby Moore, CEO of Informa Prestige; Sara-Jane Skinner, head of partnerships at Blue Marine Foundation; naval architect Carlo Torre; and Tom von Bonsdorff, CEO of Baltic Yachts.

The winners will receive trophies created by French artist Cyril Bagnost of Atelier Bagnost in Normandy.

The winning companies and projects will be on display at their respective stands during the Monaco Yacht Show, where visitors can view the technologies and initiatives recognised by the Blue Wake Programme.
