Bluegame’s new BG64 gets Smartgyro technology ahead of Cannes debut
The new 19.5-metre Bluegame BG64 will make its world premiere at the Cannes Yachting Festival, equipped with Smartgyro’s latest-generation SG40 gyro stabiliser.
The installation marks another step in the growing collaboration between the Italian yacht builder and Smartgyro, with the stabilisation system selected to improve onboard comfort both underway and at anchor.
SG40 achieves up to 86% roll reduction
During commissioning and sea trials, the SG40 reportedly achieved up to 86 per cent roll reduction aboard the BG64. The system is intended to support Bluegame’s focus on open, flexible spaces and a close connection with the water, while reducing vessel movement to improve comfort for those on board.
The BG64 extends Bluegame’s design approach into the 64ft segment, combining an open layout with the versatility expected of a yacht in its class.
Growing collaboration between Bluegame and Smartgyro
The BG64 is the latest Bluegame model to feature Smartgyro stabilisation technology. The two companies have previously worked together on several models, with the collaboration now spanning both monohull and multihull platforms.
Smartgyro systems have been integrated into the BG54 and BGX63, as well as the BGM75 multihull project. According to Smartgyro, the relationship reflects a shared focus on engineering development, with both companies seeking to refine their respective technologies around performance, efficiency and owner experience.
Updated SG40 brings efficiency and serviceability improvements
The BG64 also arrives following a major upgrade programme for the SG40 completed by Smartgyro in 2025. The redesigned stabiliser incorporates developments aimed at improving stabilisation performance, reducing power consumption and making maintenance more accessible.
Smartgyro says the latest version also offers improved overall reliability while retaining the compact footprint and installation flexibility of the previous system. The update draws on more than a decade of operational experience, customer feedback, and ongoing research and development.
Carlo Gazerro, sales manager, Southern Europe at Smartgyro, said the BG64 represents another milestone in the relationship between the two Italian companies.
“Bluegame has consistently challenged conventions through innovative yacht design and engineering, and this philosophy aligns perfectly with Smartgyro’s approach to stabilisation technology.
“The BG64 represents another important milestone in a collaboration between two Italian companies united by a passion for innovation and continuous improvement.”
Smartgyro operates under the Yanmar Group and continues to develop stabilisation systems with a focus on performance, efficiency, serviceability and lifecycle considerations.
