As out-going President of British Marine, David Pougher, with the support of the British Marine Board, has agreed to undertake the role of Interim Managing Director until such time as a new appointee is recruited to replace Howard Pridding. The role will be a minimum of six months to facilitate a smooth transition and ensure continued implementation of British Marine services to the membership.

David Pougher’s marine industry career spans 40+ years, including retail, wholesale distribution, dealer network creation and management as well as product planning through to launch. He has been an active member of British Marine since 1992, serving on its Boards, Council and association committees. David is currently President of British Marine and has previously served as Chairman of National Boat Shows.

Commenting on his new role, David Pougher says: “British Marine continues its path through a period of change and it is vitally important that we maintain our levels of service for members, acknowledge the skill, passion and ability of our staff and maintain our focus on key issues.

“We move forward with a committed and professional management team at Marine House and I am looking forward to working with all of the British Marine family in supporting our members. We have an exciting course to navigate and it must remain our intention to further lift the value of British Marine membership to current and new members.

“I would also like to take this opportunity to sincerely note and thank Howard for his many years of loyal service to British Marine. I and my fellow Board Directors acknowledge how he has regularly and tirelessly given so much, ensuring that our industry federation has been represented, heard and promoted. On behalf of the British Marine Board, associations and sectors, we wholeheartedly thank Howard and wish him every success in the future, when he leaves British Marine on Friday 25 May 2018.”

David will commence his role as Interim Managing Director on Monday 21 May 2018, at which time he will step down from the role of President, when President Elect, Greg Munford, will assume the role of acting President until the British Marine AGM on Tuesday 17 July.
