Burger Boat Company appoints new CEO amid leadership transition

US boatbuilder Burger Boat Company has completed a transition in its leadership team — including the appointment of a new chief executive — across its new construction yacht, commercial vessel, military vessel and refit/repair operations.
Wisconsin-based Burger Boat Company builds new luxury yachts and commercial vessels, as well as military platforms and refit projects.
After more than three decades of leadership, including 15 years as president and chief executive officer, Jim Ruffolo has taken on the role of chair. He will now focus on long-term strategic oversight and governance.
The company’s new executive leadership team includes:
Nick Siler, appointed as president and chief executive officer. He has held senior and executive roles at Modine Manufacturing Company, Bradley Corporation, and Enercon Industries Corporation. Reporting to the board, he is responsible for leading the executive team and focusing on company strategy, organisational culture, performance, continuous improvement, and sustainable growth.
Rich Thompson, appointed as chief sales and marketing officer. He is responsible for business development across yachts, commercial vessels, military vessels, and refit/repair services, as well as brand development, marketing, and product management. He will also share responsibility for strategic planning with Siler. Thompson has held senior and executive roles at Illinois Tool Works, DuPont, and Newell Rubbermaid.
David Villar, appointed as chief operating officer. He oversees the shipyard and joinery operations, including engineering, construction, supply chain, programme management, and quality and continuous improvement. He has previously held senior and executive roles at GE Healthcare, GE Power & Water, Bradley Corporation, and Perlick Corporation.
Tom Connor, who has worked at Burger Boat Company for more than twenty years, will remain as chief financial officer. He continues to oversee finance, human resources, information technology, and legal functions.
“Burger has built its reputation on craftsmanship, innovation, and strong relationships,” says Jim Ruffolo, chair. “These leadership appointments position us to deepen our capabilities, expand our reach, and strengthen our ability to deliver exceptional vessels in every segment we serve.”
“Our new and existing teams are hard at work for a ‘re-imagining’ of our company”, said Nick Siler, president and CEO. “To lead a company with 162 years of history towards that growth horizon is not just an honour — it’s a responsibility I welcome. It’s a privilege to join forces with Tom as well as Rich and David in their new executive roles, and I look forward to working closely with them and our entire Burger team.”
