Columbus Yachts has launched the 38m Atlantique yacht M/Y Principessa Capricciosa in Savona, northwest Italy. The vessel is the smallest model in the Atlantique series, announced in 2021, and the fourth yacht delivered within the range.

Previous launches in the series include the two Atlantique 43 yachts M/Y Frette and M/Y Night Fury, followed by the Atlantique 47 M/Y Acqua Chiara.

Exterior styling and interior design for the Atlantique 38 were developed by the Milan-based studio Hot Lab. Naval engineering and technical development were carried out by the shipyard.

The yacht features a hull profile influenced by traditional sailing yachts. A recessed stern area sits approximately 50cm above the waterline.

The Atlantique 38 has a gross tonnage of 299GT, placing it below the 300GT threshold often used for regulatory and operational considerations. The design aims to balance onboard accommodation with operating efficiency, including crew requirements and running costs, while allowing owners a degree of layout customisation.

Hull and superstructure are constructed entirely from aluminium. Accommodation is arranged for up to 12 guests across five cabins.

Four guest cabins with en-suite bathrooms are located on the lower deck. The owner’s suite is positioned forward on the main deck and includes two bathrooms arranged around a central shower, a walk-in wardrobe and a private terrace.

Crew accommodation for six members plus the captain is provided in four cabins on the lower deck. A garage positioned at the stern on the starboard side houses a five metre tender and a jet ski.

The yacht features a semi-planing hull and is powered by two 2,000 hp MAN engines. The propulsion system allows a top speed of 22 knots and a cruising speed of 19 knots.

The client was introduced to the project by Assia and Salvatore Mele of Mele Yacht.

Columbus Yachts was established in Italy in 2008 when the Palumbo family expanded from commercial shipbuilding into the superyacht sector. The first yacht delivered under the brand was the 54m Prima, launched in 2011.

Today, the yard produces several model lines, including Atlantique, Crossover and Sport, with yachts ranging from around 37 to 67 metres and fully custom builds available up to 100 metres. The brand operates within the Palumbo Superyachts group, alongside ISA Yachts, Mondomarine and Extra Yachts.

A foiling dinghy glides on the water, showcasing high-performance equipment, alongside Pro-Set's epoxy solutions for composite manufacturing.
