Double superyacht whammy for Quick Group with air-lock door and Riviera anchoring system

Strategic acquisitions of Nemo and Sanguineti in 2023 have directly impacted on a significant product development process for Quick Group (manufacturer and supplier for yacht and superyacht sectors), which has debuted two new products at Cannes in a decidedly speedy launch (much to the attending media’s relief). Lorenzo Cesari, Quick Group head of sales for the superyacht division, spoke delightedly of the new door his company’s bringing to the market.

That’s the Nemo Airlock Pantograph Door, powered by a 24V DC supply. Designed for side-access openings, the door uses a simple push-button control panel for easy opening and closing, with the addition of an automatic inflatable airlock seal to ensure watertightness.

The customisable door (size, shape and finish) is designed to withstand challenging conditions, ensuring the seal – which is maintained at a constant pressure – is never compromised. An emergency handle can be specified to ensure manual operation, enabling it to be used by all, and the seal can be inflated manually if power fails.

“This complements the range of manual and semi-automatic pantograph doors already available in the Nemo range, but this is the first time we have made a fully automatic pantograph door with inflatable seal,” says Cesari. “In fact, although some heavy-duty applications for things like stern doors exist, this is a first in the industry for a pantograph side door.

“GRP is alive to some extent – the hull and the superstructure can move over time, which can lead to gaps between the superstructure and the door,” Cesari continues. “With the inflatable seal, you can prevent water ingress even if the hull has suffered a lot of movement as the seal expands to perfectly fill the gap.”

Quick Group started the airlock door project in January 2024 shortly after the group’s acquisition of Nemo. “We decided to develop this not only because we have the inhouse expertise and the engineering and manufacturing capabilities to develop it, but also because it’s a great opportunity to bring a new product to the superyacht industry where the customer demands much higher quality and a much higher level of features. These are aspects that we are perfectly placed to meet – indeed, 90 per cent of the Nemo range is custom made for our customers to match their specific requirements for size and finish.”

Updated designs and all-new features for Riviera’s windlasses

Next on the agenda is Riviera’s series of windlasses and capstans (see main image).

Quick Group says it’s building on Sanguineti’s heritage with a brand-new range of windlasses and capstans designed for all operational parameters and developed for yachts up to 70 meters LOA. It’s also helping to build on its revenue. Following the 2023 acquisition of Sanguineti by Quick Group, the company has seen further unprecedented growth, with a revenue increase of 48 per cent from 2022 to 2023. Its forecast predicts a tripling of revenue from 2022 by 2026.

“Sanguineti has 65 years of heritage and has been a leading manufacturer of windlasses for decades, and many of its products are still operational on yachts 40 years on,” says Cesari.

“We have drawn on this strong background and combined it with the expertise of the Quick Group – each of our facilities has an expert technical office as well as CNC machines – to launch the Riviera windlass and capstan range with updated designs and all-new features, from the chain stopper to the drum to the remote controls. Sanguineti has always been a leading supplier to the superyacht sector and the new Riviera range will continue this, with windlasses and capstans suitable for yachts from 20 meters all the way up to 70 meters.”

All models in the Riviera range feature AISI 316 stainless steel bases, along with reducers with excellent anti-corrosive properties that ensure lightness and strength. Each model features optimised drum design for better grip.

The Riviera windlass range features power options from 3.5kW to 15kW and supports chain sizes from 12 to 26mm. The series includes vertical windlasses available with or without drums, and each model is equipped with an integrated sensor and magnet for the chain counter.

“Both of these new lines – along with a new range of portlights that we will also be announcing – expand Quick Group’s impressive line-up of products across 18 different ranges that we are able to supply our customers in the yacht and superyacht sector,” Cesari concludes.
