Dubai police have located a luxurious Rolex watch, worth a reported AED250,000 (US$68,000), which fell into the sea during a yacht trip off Palm Jumeirah.

The expensive watch belonged to a British tourist who lost the Rolex Yacht-Master timepiece while swimming in the ocean during a yacht cruise with his friends. The watch’s owner, 33-year-old Hamid Al Ameri, called the police after realising his watch had fallen off.

A report from Dubai police reveals that it took only 10 minutes for a specialist dive team to arrive on the scene after being called. Despite poor visibility, they located the watch at a depth of 11.5 metres, after 30 minutes of searching.

Al Ameri posted a video on his Instagram page thanking Dubai police for retrieving the timepiece.

It is not the first time Dubai police have recently recovered valuables seemingly lost in deep water. In May, police frogmen found a Russian tourist’s iPhone 14 Pro, which had been dropped in Hatta Lake.

“Our aim is to help people and make them happy. We work around the clock to assist the people and respond quickly to help them,” a statement from the Dubai police said.
