Fraser Yachts acquires Greek charter agency

Fraser Yachts Atalanta Yachts

Brokerage firm Fraser Yachts has acquired a controlling interest in Atalanta Golden Yachts, a charter management agency based in Athens, Greece.

Following an initial period of transition, the newly combined companies will operate under the brand Fraser Yachts Greece as part of the overall Fraser Yachts Group.

The news was confirmed in a statement by recreational boat and yacht retailer and superyacht services firm MarineMax, which acquired Fraser in 2019. MarineMax says the acquisition of Atalanta strengthens its position in the global superyacht services sector.

Founded in 2006, today, Atalanta manages 51 yachts in Greece from 21m to over 95m. John Dragnis, principal shareholder of Atalanta Golden Yachts, maintains a significant stake and will remain involved in the growth and development of Fraser’s operations in Greece. The acquisition is expected to close in the quarter ending 31 December, 2023,  and be accretive in its first full year of operations.

Atalanta Golden Yachts is one of Greece’s leading yacht charter management companies. Since 2006, the firm has successfully managed luxury charters for clients in Greece and many other destinations around the world, including France, Italy, Croatia, Turkey, the Red Sea and the Caribbean.

“The addition of Atalanta Golden Yachts complements our leading superyacht brokerage and luxury yacht offerings and is a testament to our continued expansion into higher margin businesses with global reach,” says Brett McGill, MarineMax chief executive and president. “Atalanta’s long-standing relationships and network of clients, combined with Fraser Yachts’ full-service yachting offerings, strengthens our commitment to providing unparalleled luxury yachting experiences to a growing number of customers worldwide.

“We are thrilled that the Atalanta Golden Yachts team will be joining our Fraser team in Greece and look forward to further solidifying our position in this attractive and growing market.”

Vassilis Fotilas, managing director of Fraser Greece, adds: “Fraser and Atalanta share the same ethos in conducting professional, informed, respectful and ultimately successful client and industry business. Continuity is key, and for this reason, the Atalanta charter, marketing and back-office team will all be combining forces with our existing Fraser Yachts Greece team.

“For myself and my team, we are incredibly excited about working with Popy Kaia, as charter director of Fraser Yachts Greece and her charter, marketing and accounting teams. As a result, the new Fraser Yachts Greece will offer our existing and future clients the best opportunities, information and service.”
