Garmin launches LiveScope 2 sonar series
Garmin has introduced the LiveScope 2 Series, a new generation of its live-scanning sonar range. The series includes the LiveScope 2, LiveScope 2 HD and LiveScope 2 HD Ice Fishing Transducer.
Garmin says the new models offer improved image resolution and increased operating range, as well as a simpler installation process than the previous generation.
The LiveScope 2 Series is designed to display real-time sonar images of fish, bait and underwater structure. Garmin says the new transducers provide 20 per cent greater resolution, plus reduced noise and wider sonar coverage than the previous LiveScope generation.
“LiveScope revolutionised the way anglers approach the water by giving them a real-time view of what’s happening below the surface,” says Susan Lyman, Garmin vice president of consumer sales and marketing. “LiveScope 2 builds on that foundation with clearer target separation at both short and long ranges, up to 50 per cent more detail, broader sonar coverage and a streamlined setup that eliminates the need for a black box.
“Better performance and fewer components give anglers a cleaner setup and more space on the boat, so they can spend less time rigging and more time fishing.”
Recent Garmin launches
The launch follows several other rollouts by Garmin in recent weeks, including its premium Fusion Apollo RA800 marine stereo, and new GPSMAP 15×3 chartplotter.
The LiveScope 2 range comprises three transducer options intended for different fishing applications.
The LiveScope 2 (LVS44) succeeds LiveScope Plus, offering 20 per cent higher resolution and a 25 per cent increase in range to 250ft.
The LiveScope 2 HD (LVS42HD) is designed for castable distances of up to 125ft and provides 50 per cent more detail at shorter ranges than the previous model.
The LiveScope 2 HD Ice Fishing Transducer is intended for hardwater fishing and includes the same high-definition sonar with a shorter flexible cold-water cable, an all-in-one power and network cable and a 0-degree shaft mount supplied in the box.
All LiveScope 2 Series transducers connect directly to a compatible Garmin multifunction display and power source, removing the need for a separate black box. Garmin says this reduces installation complexity and the number of system components.
The transducers also incorporate a water sensor that automatically switches off the sonar when lifted from the water, together with an onboard water temperature sensor. Each unit is supplied with a trolling motor barrel mount and an adjustable Perspective mode mount that can be repositioned without tools to suit different fishing styles.
The LiveScope 2 Series is compatible with other Garmin marine products, including the Spy Pole mount for independent sonar control and the GT360UHD transducer, which combines live sonar with a 360-degree view around the vessel.
LiveScope 2 will be available through Garmin from 10 July 2026 with a recommended retail price of £1,899.99 (€2,199.99). LiveScope 2 HD and the LiveScope 2 HD Ice Fishing Transducer will each have a suggested retail price of £1,989.99 (€2,299.99).
