Garmin joins Luna Rossa America’s Cup campaign

Garmin has been selected as an official supplier to Luna Rossa, the Italian challenger for the 38th America’s Cup, scheduled to take place in Naples in 2027.

Under the agreement, Garmin marine electronics and onboard systems will be used aboard the team’s chase boats during training sessions and racing operations throughout the campaign.

The supplied equipment includes GPSMAP 9000 series chartplotters, Garmin Navionics Vision+, Quatix 8 Pro products, as well as navigation, communication, mapping, lighting, digital switching and audio systems.

The partnership will continue through the full Luna Rossa campaign leading up to the 38th America’s Cup, which now features Former Emirates Team New Zealand skipper Peter Burling, the most successful America’s Cup helm in the modern era.

The vision for the Louis Vuitton 38th America’s Cup in Naples in 2027 was unveiled last year.

“It’s a great honour to once again be chosen as the official supplier to Luna Rossa, Challenger for the 38th America’s Cup,” says Pontus Fernstrom, Garmin EMEA marine segment director. “This marks another significant milestone in an ongoing collaboration that began several years ago that has enabled our brand to reach the pinnacle of sailing around the globe, all thanks to the exceptional performance of our products and our comprehensive services.”

Garmin will also supply fitness products for Luna Rossa athletes, with performance data from the devices tracked individually through the Garmin Connect platform.

“Having Garmin alongside us once again means a great deal to the team,” says Gilberto Nobili, Luna Rossa technology and operations director. “In an America’s Cup campaign, precision, reliability and timing can make all the difference. Garmin has already been an invaluable partner, and we are confident that their technology will continue to give us an important edge, helping us work with greater accuracy, make faster decisions and push our performance even further as we prepare for the 38th America’s Cup.”

Garmin International is a subsidiary of Garmin Ltd, which is incorporated in Switzerland. The company’s principal subsidiaries are located in the US, Taiwan and the United Kingdom.

Last September, Garmin was named 2025 Manufacturer of the Year by the National Marine Electronics Association for the 11th consecutive year.
