HanseYachts launches new motorboat brand

Germany’s HanseYachts AG has unveiled its new motorboat brand, RYCK, which was developed in cooperation with yacht designer Bill Dixon.

Aimed at sports-minded customers in the weekender segment, RYCK is the company’s third motorboat brand and was developed in Greifswald.

The new brand’s first model is the RYCK 280, which will premiere at Cannes Yachting Festival 2021.

The 280 is powered by a Mercury Verado outboard, with a choice of 250, 300 or 350hp. Below deck, the new model offers a choice between a modern furnished cabin with a large double berth or a large storage space for water sports equipment.

A 3D configurator on the RYCK website allows customers to explore and customise options for the RYCK 280.

Other features of the RYCK 280 include a 25cm-wide walkaround deck, T-top and additional awnings, a separate wet room, a bowsprit with integrated anchor arm, and an electric windlass.

The glass bridge control panel includes two 12in plotters.

Product manager Andrea Zambonini says: “Our customers can expect a true all-rounder with an outstanding design that will enrich the powerboat sector. The RYCK 280 is easy to manoeuvre and also trailable, making it a flexible weekender in waters both near and far.”

The brand name stems from the river Ryck which flows through Greifswald and connects the main production site of HanseYachts AG to the Baltic Sea.

“The very name of HanseYachts AG comes from the extremely successful Hanseatic League, in which Greifswald played an important role,” says CEO Dr. Jens Gerhard. “We continue the shipping, trading and boatbuilding traditions of this city and are constantly developing them further. The first waterway that the new boats from RYCK Yachts will sail is the Ryck river.

“Along it, our boats not only reach the Greifswalder Bodden as part of the Baltic Sea, they are distributed all over the world. The choice of name closes another circle for us, but also represents a declaration of loyalty from HanseYachts to this region.”

The RYCK 280 will debut next month at the Cannes Yachting Festival from 7-12 September.
