Icom launches a VHF radio designed for tight spaces
Icom UK’s new IC-M430E fixed VHF/DSC marine radio is now available from authorised Icom marine dealers throughout the UK and Ireland.
The company notes that finding enough depth behind the dashboard for electronics can be a real headache but its IC-M430E is designed to take that stress away. It measures just 52.6 mm deep. That’s less than half the depth of previous models like the IC-M423GE. ICOM says it easily fits into tight spaces where standard radios simply can’t go.
Fitting it is said to be straightforward. There’s a front-mounting setup with snap-on edge trims meaning it can be secured from the front of the console with no more awkward fiddling with brackets in blind spaces behind the dashboard.
Full functionality in a slim radio
While it maybe slim, Icom says the IC-M430E delivers due to its comprehensive features:
- Vibrant colour TFT screen: Easy to read at wide angles, with simple switching between bright daytime view and a dedicated night mode that won’t ruin night vision on the water.
- Built-in GPS & easy networking: Features an internal GNSS receiver and antenna as standard, with plug-and-play NMEA 2000 and NMEA 0183-HS connectivity to share data smoothly with chartplotters or MFDs.
- Dual-station flexibility: An optional HM-195 CommandMic can be added to run full radio controls, DSC distress calling, and an onboard intercom from a flybridge, second helm, or cockpit.
- Clear, dependable safety tools: Includes a 25 W output, Class D DSC, active noise cancelling (ANC), a 25W two-way hailer with automatic foghorn patterns and a built-in antenna check to keep an eye on the setup’s health.
- Everyday protection: For open consoles, open dayboats and RIBs, the optional MBZ-3 silicone cover keeps salt spray and harsh UV rays off the front panel when not in use.
- The IC-M430E carries a suggested retail price of £475.00 (inc. VAT) and is available to order now.
