ICOMIA podcast: Exploring key themes for ICOMIA’s World Marinas Conference
The ICOMIA World Marinas Conference is set to return in October 2025, hosted in Venice, Italy. Pictured above are Roberto Perocchio (president of Assomarinas) and Alberto Sonino (founder of Vento di Venezia) as they join Ben Taylor to discuss the themes underpinning the industry at the moment.
Expected among the conference conversations are topics such as the fact that marinas are not just docking points; they are vital infrastructure supporting everything from tourism and economic development to environmental management. Discussions will highlight the growing need for adaptable marina designs, advanced refitting services, and dry stack storage solutions to meet the diverse needs of everything from small boats to superyachts.
A core focus will be on sustainable maritime practices, with panels addressing topics like alternative energy, AI integration, water management, and coastal resilience in the face of climate change. Venice – as a UNESCO site — provides real-world context for innovation and environmental adaptation.
With hundreds of delegates from over 30 countries, the conference acts as a business accelerator. It enables strategic partnerships, joint ventures, and knowledge-sharing. Real-world examples — like marina chain mergers and cross-border investments — will showcase how the event fosters actionable outcomes that shape the industry’s future. More information is available on the conference’s website.
Beyond panel discussions, the event will include marina site visits, a mini-exhibition, and keynote addresses from global experts.
