In Focus: Superyacht AI at a turning point, says Captain’s Eye
Captain’s Eye, setting out its stall at METSTRADE’s start-up pavilion this November, says that the company’s consumers are getting smarter.
Uri Ben-Dor, co founder and CEO, believes consumers are “more open to innovation and AI technology onboard their yacht. Where the industry had very little innovation …. in the past 20 years, the consumer is very open to innovate with new technology,” he says.
Captain’s Eye provides an AI monitoring solution for marine vessels and superyachts. “Our unique algorithm tailors AI technology to meet the specific needs of marine vessels, monitoring events in real-time for theft, damage, leakage, smoke, and anomalies, enhancing safety and security,” says Ben-Dor.
Focusing on superyachts was a key lesson for the company, which was set up in 2020. Ben-Dor says that realising the system was particularly well-suited for superyachts and unmanned medium/large yachts was a turning point.
And now the system seamlessly integrates with onboard CCTV systems, he says. “Our user-friendly mobile app, compatible with both iOS and Android, delivers real-time alerts with attached videos. This guarantees early detection, quicker emergency response, the potential for life-saving actions, and the strengthening of onboard security.”
Currently, Captain’s Eye is looking to collaborate with major yacht-building companies to create integrated systems during yacht handovers to owners. The company sees that as a major opportunity as opposed to installing its system on an operational yacht, with minimal disruption to its activities. That situation is always a challenge.
That said, Ben-Dor is also looking at ways to integrate with other onboard systems, allowing for a single main screen to monitor multiple systems. “Our solutions and integrations are adaptable during installation on board,” he says.
Captain’s Eye will exhibit in the start-up pavilion at METSTRADE.
