Integration now available for Quick thrusters and Mercury systems

Mercury Piloting System and Quick Nautical Equipment Thruster Integration

Integration between Quick Nautical Equipment thrusters and Mercury Marine’s Joystick Piloting system is now officially available.

The partnership was formally revealed at the Miami Boat Show 2025 in Florida, in February.

As of June 2025, the Mercury Joystick Piloting system is fully compatible with applicable Quick Nautical Equipment (QNE) bow thrusters and available for use. Quick Group says this development improves manoeuvrability through combined system control.

Quick Nautical Equipment has developed a gateway that links its PCS system with Mercury’s command systems, allowing Mercury’s joysticks to control QNE bow thrusters. This integration can also be applied to existing QNE installations if the PCS system is already present or will be added.

The integration operates through a revised version of the Quick Nautical Equipment NCG-T interface. This allows Mercury command systems to manage QNE bow thrusters, including the BTQ range with MSC and BT-QSY models via the PCS. A software upgrade is required and can be applied using the Mercury G3 service tool.

Current compatibility includes the following Mercury Marine engines:

  • V8, V10 and V12 Verado engines with Joystick Piloting for outboards.
  • 4.5L V6 and 6.2L V8 MerCruiser engines with Joystick Piloting for sterndrives.
  • 8.2L V8 MerCruiser engines with Joystick Piloting for sterndrives.
  • 3.0L Mercury Diesel engines with Joystick Piloting for sterndrives.
  • 520 Racing engines with Joystick Piloting for sterndrives.
  • L6 350/400 engines with Joystick Piloting for outboards.
  • 400R, 450R and 500R engines with Joystick Piloting for outboards.

According to a statement made by Quick Group: “This integration represents a new level of synergy between propulsion and manoeuvring systems, delivering unmatched control and confidence to boaters worldwide.”

The company adds: “It also reinforces Quick Group’s position as a leader in smart marine systems and highlights its commitment to strategic partnerships with top industry players like Mercury Marine; advancing cutting-edge technology that enhances performance and the overall boating experience.”

Quick Nautical Equipment develops marine products, including anchoring systems, water heaters, bow thrusters, inverters and battery chargers. The brand’s advancements in these areas include the development of IP68 synchronous motor-powered thrusters with integrated drivers designed for continuous proportional operation.

In 2024, Quick Group launched a raft of sustainability initiatives, including reducing carbon emissions, enhancing supply chain transparency and increasing investments in renewable energy. The group says it is close to sourcing 100 per cent renewable energy. Other initiatives underway include carbon footprint mapping, ISO certification, implementing vertical production methodologies and promoting workplace inclusion and equity strategies.
