Florida-based Island Marine Electric has appointed Doug Bennis as vice president of sales and marketing, as the company enters a phase of growth and innovation in the marine electrical and onboard technology sector.

Bennis will lead Island Marine Electric’s sales strategy, marketing direction, and business development initiatives. His focus will include expanding the company’s presence across key boating and yachting markets, strengthening relationships with OEMs, boatbuilders, shipyards, and service partners, and supporting the continued integration of advanced electrical and onboard technology systems.

“Doug’s deep understanding of the marine technology landscape and his proven ability to build lasting industry partnerships make him an ideal fit for this role,” says Barry Baadte, general manager of Island Marine Electric. “As vessels become more sophisticated and integrated, his experience will help position Island Marine Electric at the forefront of marine electrical and connectivity solutions.”

Extensive experience leads to prime role

With extensive experience in the maritime and satellite communications industries, Bennis has led global sales initiatives, developed strategic channel partnerships, and driven revenue growth across commercial and leisure marine markets.

Bennis has spent his career in senior sales and business development roles within the maritime vertical of the satellite communications sector, working closely with vessel operators, integrators, and marine service providers worldwide. According to Island Marine Electric, Bennis brings a strategic approach to market expansion, a collaborative leadership style, and a commitment to delivering solutions that meet the operational demands of modern vessels.
