German shipyard Lürssen has launched its latest vessel, the 122-metre superyacht Kismet.

The yacht, which has been built for a serial superyacht owner and a repeat Lürssen customer, left the shipyard on 7 May 2024 to embark on its maiden voyage.

Kismet has been designed by Nuvolari-Lenard, which prioritised balancing the yacht’s proportions between the 122-metre length (including the bowsprit) and 17.8-metre beam.

For the interior, the owner called upon the design studio Reymond Langton Design. Highlights include a two-level open-plan entrance area with video walls, a Nemo cinema on the lower deck featuring a 150-inch television and an underwater seating area, and a luxurious wellness area.

Kismet marks the third collaboration between Lürssen, the client and long-time owner’s representatives Kyle and Gerry Fultz.

“The owner’s brief was challenging,” says Peter Lürssen, CEO of Lürssen. “However, we believe that with our technical expertise, we have fulfilled the owner’s wish and vision for a yacht that will still be timeless and ahead of its time for many years to come.”

Kismet is equipped with a cutting-edge hybrid power train combined with a full-electric mode that will position it among the most powerful and relatively energy-efficient superyachts in the world. Other elements designed to mitigate the yacht’s environmental impact include a heat recovery system in the generators for pool water heating and dynamic positioning for electronic anchoring in sensitive and remote areas.

Kismet is spending its first season in the Mediterranean and is available for charter through Cecil Wright.

The successful launch comes after a brand new superyacht crashed through the door of Lürssen’s dry dock in Bremen in December 2023. One employee was injured in the incident, which triggered a large-scale response involving emergency response teams, including a helicopter, water rescue and fire brigade units.
