Magonis unveils new ‘full electric’ Wave e-550

The Magonis Wave e-550 is the first model from the Italo-Spanish shipyard Magonis, and made its world debut last month, at the Venice Boat Show 2021.

The shipyard has its headquarters in Barcelona and production site in Sabaudia, Italy, and claims the the Magonis Wave e-550 has a 22-knot maximum speed and a range of 12 hours at cruising speed.

The new boat is 5.50 metre length (4.96m at waterline) and 1.98 metre width.

With a depth of 0.30m, it is possible to venture almost to the shore in complete silence thanks to the electric propulsion.

The boat uses an electric propulsion system, with four options on offer: the Torqeedo Cruise from 4 to 10kW (approximately the equivalent of 20hp), or the new Mag Power 18.0 and 30.0, 18 and 30kW respectively. The former (with a power of around 40hp) guarantees a speed of 22 knots, the latter a top speed of 16 knots, says Magonis.

The displacement of 335kg highlights the vacuum infusion construction of the exclusive Light X Pro technology, developed by the Magonis team of engineers and designers.

Optional features include a telescopic table, full teak deck, refrigerator, shower, anti-theft device and an 8-square-metre XXL awning supported by carbon uprights.

The Magonis Wave e-550 has a number of solutions not usually found on boats of this size, starting with the waterproofed 13″ iPad. There is also a dedicated slot for charging smartphones, while music is provided by a 120W Fusion system.
