Makefast to launch Makefast USA

Makefast's boat awning for shade

Makefast Group says it is excited to be launching Makefast USA. The operation will be run from a new facility in Maryland, and officially starts on 1 December 2022.

USA sales manager Dave Carter will be working in partnership with Mike Pugh of Shore Industries. The latter is already a trusted supplier to Makefast and the two are established at building and designing shade sail systems for the marine industry.

“We are delighted to be able to make this move to grow our presence in the USA and get closer to our US customers,” says Richard Jones Makefast’s CEO. “We look forward to introducing new and innovative products to the market.”

The Makefast Group’s sun awning system is one of the many marine systems Makefast USA says it will be promoting. The company was created over 35 years ago, and is now based in mid-Wales with a purpose-built factory and a team of around 30 people. Although a UK-based organisation, Makefast is continually expanding its service network and now adds the USA to its distributors and service centres in Italy and Taiwan.

“With the global economy predicted to slow over the next couple of years, it will become increasingly challenging to keep the momentum, however we are seeing positive growth in leisure marine globally and we are confident we can continue to expand thanks to our innovative designs and high-quality products.” Chris Brown, CFO, told MIN after winning the Global Business of the Year award at the Wales Business Awards in Cardiff in June 2022. The company was recognised for its significant year-on-year export growth over a sustained period of five years.
