Marine Industry Cup 2021 aims to bring industry together

Organisers say that the newly launched Marine Industry Cup has been developed as a way to bring members of the marine industry together following a year of restrictions. It’s at Hayling Island Sailing Club on Thursday 24 June 2021, and is open to twelve teams of four.

Billed as a great social and networking opportunity, the cup is being supported by Marine Industry News, PKF Francis Clark, RS Sailing, A Plan Insurance, Hyde Sails and MDL Marinas.

RS Sailing has offered its fleet of RS21s for the event, thus the RS21 keelboat has been chosen as the class for this event.

Registration is now open, the cost to enter is £495 per team. The Marine Industry Cup will be held at Hayling Island Sailing Club on Thursday 24 June 2021 and is an open event for the first 12 companies to sign-up.

“We are very excited to see the return of an industry sailing event and also very proud that the industry cup will be using RS21s,” says Jon Partridge, RS Sailing. “We will work hard with all the partners to ensure this will be a success.”

Each entry to this fun filled day of racing requires a team of four. A donation from each entry fee will be made to Friends of PICU, a charity which supports children and their families on the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit in Southampton Children’s Hospital.

Timings for the day are as follows:

08:30 – 09:15 Registration and Breakfast
09:15 – Competitor Briefing
10:27 – First Warning Signal
16:00 – Prize giving and networking

Breakfast rolls and hots drinks will be served upon arrival. A packed lunch and a hot post-race supper will also be provided for all competitors.
