Intrepid Powerboats has appointed Terry McNew as the company’s president, taking over from Ken Clinton, who leaves the firm.
McNew has over 30 years of experience in the marine industry, and was formerly CEO at MasterCraft.
“We are thrilled to welcome Terry McNew as the new president of Intrepid Powerboats,” says Brett McGill, chief executive officer and president of parent company MarineMax. “Terry’s vision and leadership will help build upon Intrepid’s strong foundation and drive the brand’s continued success in delivering world-class powerboats to our customers.”
Based in Largo, Florida, Intrepid follows a direct-to-consumer distribution model. MarineMax acquired Intrepid Powerboats in October 2021.
Clinton, who held the position of president at Intrepid since 1991, posted on Instagram about the change.
“It is with a heavy heart that I would like to announce that MarineMax has chosen a different direction for Intrepid, and I am no longer with Intrepid Powerboats,” says Clinton. “I’ve spent 34 years building the company, and I have done it with the most amazing team around me. I have also done it with an amazing group of customers that I call the Intrepid nation. It is those two groups that I call my family, and I thank [them] profusely for the career that it has given me… But please understand one thing… I’m far from done and I’m looking for a new home. I look forward to a new opportunity.”
In a statement, MarineMax says McNew’s expertise is expected to support Intrepid Powerboats as it continues its focus on maintaining quality and performance, alongside its ongoing efforts in innovation and addressing customer needs.
