MDL Marinas adds jet ski facilities at Cobb’s Quay Marina

MDL Marinas is adding dedicated jet ski facilities at Cobb’s Quay Marina, including 20 purpose-built docking pods and additional berthing, in response to growing demand for personal watercraft on the UK’s south coast.

The work forms part of wider improvements at the marina, creating more waterside space for traditional alongside berthing as well as a dedicated jet ski pontoon.

The first seven jet ski docking pods are due to be installed this month (July 2026), with a further 13 to follow, bringing capacity to 20 personal watercraft.

The new pontoon has been designed to allow the marina’s berthing layout to be adjusted over time, making it possible to respond to changing demand for traditional berths and dedicated jet ski facilities.

The docking pods provide out-of-water storage for jet skis and are intended to make launching and recovery more straightforward. The pontoon is fitted with 16- and 32-amp electrical connections and a water supply, allowing owners to charge batteries and flush engines after use.

Users of the new facilities will also have direct access to Poole Harbour, together with the marina’s slipway and on-site services.

Zander Ozelton, project manager at MDL Marinas, comments: “This project gives us the flexibility to respond to the changing ways people enjoy time on the water, both now and in the future. By creating additional berthing and introducing dedicated jet ski docking pods, we’re giving customers more choice in how they enjoy their time on the water. The new pods provide a practical, secure and convenient way to store and launch jet skis, making it quicker and easier to get out on the water.”

The development also includes self-storage units at Cobb’s Quay, next to the slipway and new pontoon. Available year-round with 24/7 access, the units can be used to store lifejackets, watersports equipment, maintenance gear and other boating essentials. Unit sizes range from 6.5 to 172 square feet.
