MDL Marinas retains triple ISO certification

UK marina operator MDL Marinas has successfully retained all three of its internationally recognised ISO certifications – covering quality management (ISO 9001), environmental management (ISO 14001) and occupational health and safety (ISO 45001).

MDL is the only major UK marina operator to hold all three certifications, and its continued retention marks a significant achievement.

For berth holders, visiting boaters and tenants, these certifications are further reassurance of how MDL operates its marinas, from maintaining consistent service standards and responding to customer feedback to ensuring environmental responsibility and safety are embedded in everyday marina operations.

The company says this commitment is reflected in a raft of improvements across MDL’s marinas, including upgraded customer facilities at Penton Hook, upgrades to the marina office and roadways at Hamble Point, and a new 35-tonne hoist at Northney to enhance boat lifting operations.

MDL has also introduced water safety and cold-water immersion training, developed with Vitae Vi specifically for its marina teams.

Environmental marinas

Environmental performance remains another key focus, with MDL reducing its operational carbon emissions by 54 per cent between 2022 and 2025, alongside continued investment in renewable energy and improved waste management.

James Barnes, managing director at MDL Marinas, says: “Becoming the first UK marina operator to achieve all three ISO certifications was a significant milestone for MDL, and retaining them is something we’re extremely proud of.

“These certifications aren’t simply about meeting standards on paper. They reflect the improvements we’re making across our business and our commitment to delivering the best possible experience for our customers.

“Maintaining all three takes a real team effort, and this achievement is testament to the hard work and dedication of our colleagues across MDL, who continue to find ways to improve how we operate.”
