Italian boatbuilder MED Group has launched three new chase boat models under its new Tykun brand, marking the group’s expansion into the luxury yachting sector.

The models measure 8.5, 10.5 and 12.5m and have been developed in collaboration with Italian architect Tommaso Spadolini. The first 10.5-metre unit is currently under construction and is expected to debut at the Monaco Yacht Show in September 2025. An order for the largest 12.5-metre model has also been confirmed, with a launch anticipated for 2026.

Tykun chase boats are built from aluminium. The material allows a high degree of customisation since it does not require moulds, making it easier to adapt or modify the structure either during the build process or later in the vessel’s life. Hulls can be tailored in terms of layout, colours, fabrics and finishes.

Tommaso Spadolini says: “We know that owners will appreciate the flexibility of the design and layout, meaning they can create their perfect pleasure boat, which is enjoyable and easy to handle, no matter the conditions.”

The new vessels are intended to reach speeds above 55 knots while maintaining a smooth and stable ride. MED Group has a background in the defence sector, and the naval architecture draws on experience from the company’s MED Defense division, which builds rigid inflatable boats (RIBs) for public security and law enforcement clients. MED Defense vessels include Nato-qualified and EC-approved models.

Marco Galimberti, MED Group CEO, says: “Building on our years of experience creating vessels for the defence sector at MED Group, we are very excited to showcase Tykun to the market. Created with the quality of a superyacht, to the very demanding standards of military vessels, these boats combine the power and grit of a military vessel with the elegance and comfort of a superyacht tender.”

Benedetta Iovane, strategic advisor for Tykun, adds: “We anticipate that our Tykun boats will be a welcome addition to the market. There’s nothing else quite like them out there. Few chase boats combine lightweight aluminium construction with defence-grade performance and custom superyacht detailing in such a compelling way.”

MED Group is based in Cervia and currently employs 60 workers. The company is planning to relocate to a larger facility in 2026 and expand its workforce.
