Merry Fisher Marlin 795 selected by Boat Club Trafalgar

Boat Club Trafalgar has recently chosen a Merry Fisher 795 Marlin, made by Jeanneau, to join the club’s boat share fleet, named Calypso. Key to the selection criteria was finding a sophisticated, all-rounder suitable for family fun, practical cruising as well as some serious fishing, says the club.

The Merry Fisher 795 Marlin ticked all the boxes, as well as carrying up to eight passengers.

“We wanted to get a bigger boat for our more experienced members, who want to push further afield, go fishing or stop overnight,” says Steve Rodwell, manager of Boat Club Trafalgar. “We really liked all the space on board the Marlin 795 for a boat of this size, both above and below decks. You can easily carry SUPs or skis onboard and there’s plenty of room for our members to take family and friends out too.

“The walkaround cabin makes moving around easier and a roomy cockpit for relaxing. Inside is bright and airy, and the spacious cabin has plenty of storage and a heater, which extends the cruising season for our members right through the winter months.

“The boat has great handling, with a deep V hull and good seakeeping. It’s easy to manoeuvre too in tight spaces, as it comes with a bow thruster.

“Importantly, she was delivered unrigged, meaning we could fit her with a new Yamaha 200HP engine, consistent with the rest of our fleet. Our members love the fact they can just turn up and go boating, in a brand new, well equipped and well maintained boat, with a highly reliable engine.”

“The new boat not only looks the part but is a lovely experience to skipper,” says club member, John Barnard. “It’s really stable for fishing and plenty of comfort for those on board. The bow thruster takes a bit of getting used to, and I can already see how useful it could be. It’s certainly a step up from the boat it replaced and for a larger boat with a bigger engine it was pretty efficient on fuel. I can’t wait to get out on it again – magnificent.”
