Peter Busfield will retire from his role as executive director of NZ Marine — the trade association for the NZ marine industry — on 31 March 2026, after more than 30 years in the marine sector. He will continue to provide consultancy support until the end of 2026.

The NZ Marine board of management and NZ Marine executive acknowledge his contribution in a statement. “On behalf of the NZ Marine board of management, NZ Marine executive, and myself, I would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Peter for his remarkable contributions and leadership,” says Tracey Stevenson, president of the NZ Marine Industry Association.

“His dedication, along with the achievements of his team, has had a lasting impact on the industry as a whole.”

A celebration to mark Busfield’s career is scheduled for the new year. Recruitment for a successor will begin shortly, with staff and stakeholders invited to participate in shaping the association’s future leadership.
