Ocean Safety expands Jon Buoy range of MOB solutions at Metstrade
The Jon Bouy Evac is designed for short-term abandonment
Marine safety specialist Ocean Safety has revealed two additions to its Jon Buoy range: the Jon Buoy EVAC and the Jon Buoy Mk 6 Smart Release.
The company, which is presenting the new products this week at Metstrade 2025, specialises in man overboard and abandonment equipment for leisure and commercial use.
The new Jon Buoy EVAC is designed for short-term abandonment in situations where a full liferaft is not required. It is available in 4- or 6-person versions and is supplied in a compact, lightweight format for rapid deployment. The unit features automatic inflation, an inflatable arch and canopy, high-visibility colours, a boarding ladder, grab handles and a weighted keel. It has a 3-year service interval and comes in a semi-rigid valise with a carry handle for transport.
The Jon Buoy Mk 6 Smart Release is structured as a remote deployment system for the Jon Buoy Mk 6 Recovery Module. It enables activation from a bridge or other onboard location and includes an illuminated activation button and multiple mounting configurations. The system allows MOB equipment to be deployed through a vessel’s NMEA2000 network for the first time. It also features an ON/OFF arming switch, a protective push-button, a 3-year service interval with combined servicing and an inline connector for servicing access.

Alistair Hackett, managing director at Ocean Safety, says: “These two new Jon Buoy products showcase our commitment to developing safety solutions that are practical, reliable and innovative. The EVAC and Smart Release are designed to provide leisure and commercial users with essential tools that make a real difference in critical moments.”
Ocean Safety is exhibiting on the Alliance Marine stand in the French Pavilion at Hall 5 – 05.141 at Metstrade 2025.
