Ocean Signal introduces handheld VHF for emergency and routine use at Metstrade
Ocean Signal has introduced the Safe Sea V200 GMDSS survival radio, a fully certified handheld VHF designed to meet global maritime safety regulations and the operational requirements of commercial vessels.
The Safe Sea V200 provides communication support for routine maritime use as well as in emergencies. It is certified to meet International Maritime Organisation (IMO) and SOLAS standards, including Resolution MSC.515 (105), and is fully compliant with GMDSS.
According to the UK-based firm, the V200, debuting at Metstrade, is designed with flexibility and usability in mind. It is available in two configurations: a dedicated GMDSS emergency VHF with automatic activation, or a dual-battery kit for daily and emergency use.
Other notable features include its marine-grade construction and IPX7 waterproof rating. It is also operable while wearing survival suit gloves and features a backlit display and keypad for use in low-light conditions.
Each unit comes with a mountable base, a flexible rubber antenna, a belt clip and a wrist lanyard.
James Hewitt, managing director, Ocean Signal, explains: “Ocean Signal developed the Safe Sea V200 with professional mariners in mind. The result is an affordable, highly reliable survival radio solution that supports mission-critical communication in the most demanding environments.
“The new V200 is the latest Ocean Signal product, building on our reputation for precision engineering and dependable safety technology as we continue to deliver essential equipment for a range of commercial, fishing and offshore applications.”
Available in European and other global markets, as well as in North America and Canada, the device is supplied by ACR Electronics, a sister company.
