OceanLED has announced the launch of two new upgrade kits: the F-Series to Hybrid E8 and the L-Series to Hybrid E9.

Both products will debut at Metstrade 2025, offering what the underwater specialist describes as the world’s first multigenerational underwater lighting upgrade solutions for superyachts.

The new kits enable vessels already equipped with OceanLED F-Series or L-Series to be upgraded to the Hybrid Explore Series without requiring the replacement of driver cabinets, cabling or cofferdams.

This approach, using upgrade kits, aims to streamline refits by reducing installation time, cost and disruption on board.

The kits install directly into existing cofferdams, removing the need for welding, new cable runs or control cabinet replacements. OceanLED reports that installation times can be reduced by up to 50 per cent compared with conventional replacement methods.

The Hybrid E8 and E9 lights produce up to 13,000 lumens per fixture and feature the firm’s latest underwater-specific optics, designed to deliver enhanced lighting effects. Both models also achieve a reported 26 per cent increase in energy efficiency compared with previous generations.

In addition to performance gains, the upgrade kits are compatible with future generations of OceanLED Explore Series products. The E8 and E9 lights have received accreditation from the Water Revolution Foundation as sustainable underwater lighting solutions for superyachts.

Giles Truscott, group sales director at OceanLED, comments: “These upgrade kits represent a true breakthrough for underwater lighting in the superyacht industry. We’re offering a smarter, cleaner and more sustainable path to next-generation underwater lighting, without tearing apart the vessel’s existing infrastructure, while keeping costs to a significant minimum.”

OceanLED will exhibit the lighting upgrade kits at Metstrade, stand 705 in the Superyacht Pavilion.
