A US provider of maritime SaaS solutions, OrbitMI, has announced the appointment of Captain Sujit Padhye to a senior leadership position overseeing product strategy and managed services.

In his new role, Captain Padhye will drive the development of the firm’s digital solutions portfolio, lead innovation efforts and expand managed services aimed at improving customer engagement and operational efficiency.

He brings more than two decades of experience in commercial shipping, maritime operations and digital product development. As a former master mariner, Captain Padhye brings his onboard expertise to the role.

Before joining OrbitMI, he was the head of voyage planning and optimisation at Synergy Marine Group, where he played a key role in scaling digital services to improve operational decision-making. He also served as the head of route optimisation at Lloyd’s Register.

“Capt. Sujit’s leadership strengthens our ability to deliver smarter, more connected maritime solutions,” says Ali Riaz, CEO of OrbitMI. “His deep domain knowledge, combined with a clear vision for how technology can improve shipping operations, makes him the ideal person to help shape the next phase of our platform.”

Over the last 15 years, Captain Padhye has worked extensively in data, operations and technology with experience in building integrated optimisation platforms and launching global support centres focusing on areas like weather routing and regulatory compliance.

“I’m excited to join OrbitMI and help develop digital solutions and managed services offerings that support our customers not just with tools, but with real operational guidance,” says Captain Padhye. “Digital platforms are only part of the solution; many companies also need trusted partners who understand the day-to-day realities of maritime operations. That’s what I hope to bring to this role.”

This news comes after a flurry of activity this month from OrbitMI, which joined the Smart Maritime Council, acquired Canadian AI firm AuQub, and appointed Alexandre Lapointe as new CPO.
